Food stalls @ Splash Island Resort

May 6th, 2009 -- Posted in Resorts, Travel, Waterparks | 2 Comments »

During outing we usually think of food and drinks to bring with us so that we can save more. But resorts usually do not allow food and drinks inside their facilities because they have their own concessionares to cater their guests. The resorts allow concessionares not only for income concern but to give their guests more convenience in their outing. Actually it is kind of hard too because if you are planning to bring food you need to go to market, prepare and cook everything plus the burden of transporting it. Sometimes the danger of having your packed food to be contaminated by bacteria makes it more practical to buy food inside the resort.

I thought before that food inside resorts are usually expensive based on my experiences with some resorts but not at Splash Island Resort. There are plenty of concessionares offering food and drinks at reasonable prices inside these world class facilities. Check the slide below:

YouTube videos: Splash Island Resort

April 23rd, 2009 -- Posted in Resorts, Travel, Waterparks | No Comments »

The family’s first visit to Splash Island Resort happened on April 4 when the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) held an affair in the said resort. We had a great time especially the kids because the place is totally awesome as compared to other resorts we had visited. There are amazing slides, jam-packed facilities and amenities plus plenty of food chains (concessionares) inside the resort.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBF7amBKKBc

The first video (I uploaded it on my YouTube account - housewifeatwork) I want to share with you is what they called “Rio Montañosa.” To ride on this, you need to go up I think on the 4th or 5th floor of a building. The raft can carry 4-5 persons and there are lifeguards to assist you before your raft is release. Check out the video and see how long and twirled the slide you need to go through before the big splash at the end.

This is the second video hubby took last April 4 on our visit to Splash Island Resort. Maybe you are familiar with the wave pool you encounter with other resorts but this one is different as to its surroundings. The wave pool of the resort is called “Agos Grandes.” The machine-generated waves create the big waves as guests immerse themselves and play with the tide. Just in front of the wave pool is a place in the resort where you can find sand similar to Boracay. You can lie down for a nap, play with the sand or have a sort of beach volleyball. Aside from that there are food stalls near the pool to fill your craving stomach. And not only that, every afternoon there are live band performances to complete your visit in the resort. Additional tents are now in place on the vicinity to cater the increasing number of guests who want to watch the bands. You can check their website here for more information.

Location map of SPLASH ISLAND RESORT

April 19th, 2009 -- Posted in Resorts, Travel, Waterparks | No Comments »

I checked on the new site of SPLASH ISLAND RESORT located in Southwoods Ecocentrum Biñan, Laguna and extracted the map to share to those people interested to visit this great resort.

We are from Montalban, Rizal and the best and easiest way for us to reach the resort is via SOUTHWOODS EXIT of South Luzon Expressway and after the exit you will see the Sto. Niño de Cebu church and from there the resort is just a straight road ahead less than 500m.

Birthday @ SPLASH ISLAND RESORT Biñan, Laguna

April 19th, 2009 -- Posted in Resorts, Travel, Waterparks | No Comments »

My boy turned 5 last April 18 and we decided to go on swimming for the celebration. Together with my 2 sisters and their families plus some relatives, the family went again to the NEW SPLASH ISLAND RESORT located in Southwoods Biñan, Laguna.

The first time for the family to visit the resort was last April 4 when the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) held an affair and we were invited. That was the first time for me to see this world class facilities and amenities of Splash Island Resort. I said NEW because it is now being operated under the new management, Global Gutz Park Philippines owned by Businessman Sonny Torres.

I am not the only one amazed by this resort but my sisters as well and their families and the guests who are fortunate to visit the resort. The place has not only simple pools to take a plunge but rides and slides to give a complete aqua thrill and adventures. Another great thing you will observe is the presence of many concessionaires (30++) who offer different food to cater your craving stomach at reasonable prices. Safety and security is not a question too. Aside from the presence of many lifeguards dispose everywhere they have first aid clinic, ready ambulance, K9 dog and roving policemen.

A huge space that can cater 15,000 guests complete with facilities, amenities, food and security is such a perfect place where family, friends and group excursionists can get a complete splash experience. On May 1 is another day for the family to get another plunge for Home Radio 97 dot 9 Bigger Summer Splash @ Splash Island. See you!!!

Philippines’ hidden getaways

April 14th, 2009 -- Posted in Beaches, Philippines, Resorts, Travel | 2 Comments »
Philippines is one of the famous destinations among travelers especially on summer season. Aside from Boracay, Baguio, Puerto Galera and Subic, it has also other not-so-familiar or unknown places for vacation to offer. Check out some of them below if you want a new place, beautiful and untouched nature and a more private leisure.

ROMBLON
Romblon is gifted with lush vegetation and mineral resources. Aside from marble, the islands are rich in granite, nickel, silica, mercury, zinc, copper, silver, limestone, sulfide, ores, kaolin, clay, magnesium and quartz. Gold panning sites have sprouted in some of the mountain stream areas in Magdiwang, Sibuyan Island. The fertile soil nurtures varied agricultural crops–like coconut, rice, corn, bananas, rootcrops, fruit trees, vines and many others. Offshore, Romblon is a rich fishing ground. The islands lie on the migratory path of fishes from the Sulu and Visayan Seas, passing the Tablas Strait, Sibuyan Sea and Romblon Pass. Likewise, Romblon has crystal-clear rivers and waterfalls, beautiful and unspoiled beaches.

DAVAO ORIENTAL
The Pusan Point in Davao Oriental is called the “Sunrise Capital of the Philippines” but aside from the great sunrise it has to offer are the beautiful waterfalls and beaches like “Tinagong Dagat” (Hidden Sea), plesiosaur-shaped “Dinosaur Island”, Cape San Agustin, Pujada Bay and more.

SIQUIJOR
The island of Siquijor, also called “Isla del Fuego” or the “Isle of Fire”, is known to many as a place of magic, mysticism and enchantments. It is frequently associated with phenomena beyond the explanations of science. It is a beautiful place of natural white sand beaches, coral reefs, caves and forests, simply worth discovering. After admiring the natural sceneries and venturing into the caves, visitors might also attend the healing festivals or watch locals perform feats that boggle the mind.

ANTIQUE
Antiqueños pride themselves on living in one of the oldest pre-Hispanic settlements in the Philippines. Although now often passed over in favor of nearby Boracay, Antique has many scenic beauties to offer those seeking adventures with nature. It has lovely waterfalls, lakes, and rivers, including the Tibiao River, ideal for white water kayaking. The province’s highest peak is the legendary Mt. Madia-as, sacred mountain and home of ancient gods, home to rare flora and fauna. Antique is also the home of the famous “Bugasong patadyong”. Lately, the river of Sibalom, Antique has been discovered to be rich with semi-precious stones.

CATANDUANES
The island of Catanduanes in the Bicol Region is in the Pacific Ocean, and is still virtually untouched by tourists, making it a great vacation getaway for those who want to relax for a while from the rat race. Puraran Beach in the town of Baras on this island is the site of the so-called “Majestic” waves prized by surfers. The island also has as-yet-unspoiled white beaches all along its coastline, as well as diving spots for snorkelers and scuba enthusiasts, and cascading waterfalls farther inland.

LAKE SEBU, SOUTH COTABATO
Scenic Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, dubbed the “Summer Capital of the South”, is a protected landscape and the ancestral home of the T’boli people. It boasts three beautiful mountain lakes (Sebu, Seloton and Lahit) and seven waterfalls, as well as the rich culture of the T’bolis, now internationally known for their t’nalak cloth. The scenery and light in this place make it a photographer’s paradise, and the mountains offer adventures for intrepid trekkers.

GLAN, SARANGANI
Beautiful Glan, Sarangani, is the place where mountain sceneries meet white beaches and clear, sparkling waters.

BALER, AURORA
Baler, Aurora, remote and isolated from the metropolis, its beauties remain unspoiled, waiting to be discovered. Sabang Beach waves are good for surfing, while nearby islets are great for snorkeling. History enthusiasts may be interested in Quezoniana such as the ruins of the Quezon house.

PUNDAQUIT, SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES
Hidden away in the province of Zambales, not far from Subic, is the lovely fishing village of Pundaquit, San Antonio. For those in the know, the beach of Pundaquit is a great haven for beach bums and surfers.

CARAMOAN PENINSULA, CAMARINES SUR
The serene Caramoan Peninsula is a hidden paradise in Camarines Sur, great for swimming, island hopping and nature-tripping. Aside from white beaches, waterfalls and islands, Caramoan also has caves for intrepid explorers and cliffs for rock climbers, as well as the wildlife sanctuary at Caramoan National Park for bird-watchers.
