Caraballo Mountains in Alicia, Isabela

July 2nd, 2010 -- Posted in Isabela, Philippines, Sightseeing, Travel | No Comments »

Caraballo Mountains are mountains in central Luzon inhabited by a community called Ilongot. These are thickly forested mountains close to the upper end of Cagayan Valley; separating it from the Central Plains of Luzon. Caraballo reaches an elevation of about 5,500 ft or 1,680 m. and joining the Central Cordillera to the north and the Sierra Madre to the east. Drained by the headwaters of the northward flowing Cagayan River, the mountains are heavily forested. Trails and roads did develop through these mountains but they were difficult to cross and many times would be destroyed by rain and mud slides during rainy season. Because these mountains offered no known economic benefits, people were also left isolated from the lowlands. They also serve to discourage travel between central Luzon and Nueva Vizcaya.

Through the Earth or Over the Waters

Cagayan’s natural attractions include its numerous cave systems where you will find wonders of nature formed by tiny drops of water over millions of years. Feel the subtle energy of the earth in underground canals, rivers and lakes good for swimming, photography and even cave-diving. Explore the different cave systems: Callao with its 7 chambers, the 12-km-long Odessa-Tumbali, the 115-mtr-deep Jackpot, the underground river of Duba Cave in Baggao, and more. Learn the art of cave-crawling through various peculiar rock formations, and spelunking (rappeling/climbing).

If you want to find out your limits, let your spirit fly with a kayak or raft ride through white-water rapids in the Pinacanauan and Chico tributaries.

Or you may take a calm boat ride at dusk in Mororan, where you may see the awe-inspiring sight of thousands of bats streaming into the fading light of sunset.

Hiking, Fishing, Swimming

The long winding coastline of Cagayan harbors many spots for water-oriented activities like sports, fishing, swimming and snorkeling.

The famed Palaui Island, with its windy undulating hills is in Sta. Ana, famous worldwide for its abundant marine life and the site of national and international game fishing competitions. Explore its old Cape Engaño lighthouse, which dates back to the Spanish regime and is still the only operational lighthouse in the northeastern coast.

Numerous beach resorts within the coastal municipalities provide comfortable casual lodging and facilities for enjoying the sea. Take your choice of fine black sand beaches in Sanchez Mira, Sta. Praxedes, Claveria, Pamplona, Abulug, Buguey, Aparri, Ballesteros and Gonzaga, or fine white sand beaches in the coastal island town of Calayan.

Food

Enjoy a variety of seafood prepared in truly natural settings.

Whatever experience you choose, you will go home refreshed and reinvigorated by the magic of Cagayan.

After getting the approval they immediately schedule their trip to New York to visit his father-in-law and some relatives. Have you been to New York? My husband is fortunate to visit this one of the famous cities in the world twice during his conventions. During his free time, he went for a tour and saw how advance this city is in terms of many things. High-rise buildings, magnificent city displays, lights, places of leisure and enjoyment, state parks, museums and many more. We have relatives living in the city to accompany him in the tour. During his city tour and sightseeing, hubby rode on the top of a double-decker bus just what we had here in the Philippines before the 90’s touring along the famous Luneta and Roxas Boulevard. New York City Sightseeing is best viewed on top of this hop-on, hop-off bus tours.

CitySights NY is among those who offer this hop-on, hop-off bus tours. It is really a convenient and comfortable way to look the views in your eye level. Hubby had a great time during his stay in New York because aside from city tours and sightseeing he was able to go shopping and watched movies. If you want to explore New York check them out and avail of various tourists’ services for a complete experience of the city.
